Why Do Pads Cause Rashes, and How Can You Avoid Them?

Pad rash is common, but it isn't something you just have to live with. The usual causes, and the small changes that make a big difference.
If you've ever had a sore, itchy patch on your inner thighs by day three of your period, you're not alone. Pad rash is one of the top complaints we heard from the 200+ women we spoke to.
The usual suspects
- Friction: wings and edges rubbing against skin as you move.
- Moisture: a damp top layer holding wetness against your skin.
- Wearing a pad too long: warmth and moisture build up over time.
- Fragrances and harsh additives that can irritate sensitive skin.
Small changes that help
- Change your pad every 4–6 hours, and more often on heavy days.
- Choose a pad with a soft, breathable top layer.
- Skip scented pads. Fragrance doesn't make you fresher.
- Wear breathable cotton underwear and keep the area clean and dry.
How we designed for it
Our pads have no fragrance, no sulphates and no bleach, a virgin cotton top that stays dry, and a soft top layer on the wings to reduce friction. If a rash doesn't settle, or keeps coming back, check in with a doctor.
